Insulation adds a significant value to your home by helping cut energy costs, keeping the house at a comfortable temperature and improving resale. It is one of the most cost effective energy upgrades and may also qualify you for rebates from your utility company.

Local, state and federal energy codes commonly require a certain amount or R-value of insulation in new buildings and homes. It is important to be aware of these requirements when choosing an insulation contractor.
The effectiveness of an insulating material depends on both its thermal conductivity and its density. In general, the higher a material’s R-value the more effective it is.
Cellulose Insulation
Cellulose insulation is a natural, renewable product made from recycled paper products such as newspapers and cardboard. It is reduced to small pieces, and then fiberized to create a material that packs tightly into building cavities. Manufacturers typically blend the cellulose with a fire retardant such as mineral borate or ammonium sulfate. When installed at proper densities cellulose insulation will not settle and has the added benefit of being insect and fungus resistant.
